1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form an agreement between you and the operator of the applicable Luc service. Luc Universe is an independent project currently operated by Luc Xu. "Luc", "we", "us", and "our" refer to that operator.
By accessing or using a Luc service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you use the service for an organization or another person, you represent that you have authority to bind that party to these Terms to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
A product-specific notice, plan term, or checkout term may supplement these Terms. If there is a conflict, the more specific term governs the relevant subject, except that mandatory law and non-waivable consumer rights always prevail.
2. Eligibility and account responsibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use account-based services. If you are below the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the service only with any parent or guardian consent required by law. The service is not directed to children under 16.
You must have legal capacity to enter into these Terms. You agree to use the service in compliance with applicable law and not to use it where doing so would be unlawful or prohibited.
You are responsible for safeguarding your authentication method, device, API keys, backups, and account access. You must provide accurate information when an account or billing feature requires it and promptly update information that is materially inaccurate. You are responsible for activity under your account to the extent permitted by law, but this does not make you responsible for unauthorized activity caused solely by our failure to use reasonable security.
You must promptly notify us if you believe your account, credentials, or API key has been compromised. You may not share account access in a way that defeats security controls or allows unauthorized use.
3. The Luc services
Luc Universe is the official home for a changing ecosystem of digital products. The services currently described by these Terms include the Luc Universe website, Luc Resume, and Luc Arcana. Other services apply these Terms when they expressly link to them. The features available to you depend on the product, your region, account status, plan, and the version of the service.
Luc Resume provides browser-based resume editing, templates, preview, export, local backup, and optional AI-assisted features. Resume documents are ordinarily stored in your browser and are not automatically synchronized. You are responsible for retaining backups and reviewing exported files before use.
Luc Arcana provides browser-based exploratory tools relating to traditional and cultural divination systems. Its current tools are calculations and reading aids, not scientific forecasting or advice. Some products may be experimental, in development, or offered as a preview.
Luc may add, remove, modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue features or the whole of a service. We do not guarantee that every product or feature will always be available. Where a change is material, we will provide notice and any remedy or migration opportunity required by applicable law or a paid plan.
4. Your content and permissions
You retain the rights you lawfully hold in content you create or submit. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your original resume text, questions, files, or other user content to Luc.
You grant Luc a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, and create necessary technical adaptations of your content only as reasonably needed to provide, operate, secure, troubleshoot, and support the feature you request. This includes sending relevant content to a model or payment provider when you choose that feature. The license ends when the relevant content is deleted or the service stops processing it, except for copies that must be retained under this policy, by law, in backups for a limited period, or to establish or defend legal claims.
You represent that you have the rights, permissions, and legal basis needed to submit your content and to authorize the processing described in these Terms. Do not submit another person's confidential information, personal data, or protected material without lawful authority.
You are responsible for reviewing content and generated output before relying on it or sharing it with employers, clients, institutions, or other third parties. You must correct factual errors and ensure that every claim in a resume or other document is accurate.
5. Luc intellectual property
Luc and its licensors retain all rights in the software, source code, interface, visual design, icons, illustrations, templates, original written content, data compilations, reports, branding, logos, and other protected material made available by Luc, except for user content and rights expressly granted by an applicable open-source license.
You may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, sublicense, sell, commercially exploit, scrape, or create misleading derivative branding from Luc protected material without written permission or a valid license. You may use the service for its intended purpose and exercise rights that applicable law or an open-source license clearly grants.
Open-source components remain governed by their own licenses. Those licenses control to the extent of any conflict with this section. Nothing in these Terms restricts uses permitted by mandatory law, such as fair dealing, fair use, or rights relating to software interoperability where those rights cannot lawfully be excluded.
AI output may be generated from your input and model processing. Its copyright status, originality, and protectability can depend on the prompt, output, jurisdiction, model-provider terms, and human contribution. Luc does not promise that AI output is unique, free of third-party rights, eligible for intellectual-property protection, or owned by you. You must assess whether you can lawfully use it for your intended purpose and comply with any applicable model-provider terms.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use the service to:
- Violate any law, regulation, court order, or lawful third-party right.
- Commit fraud, misrepresentation, identity theft, payment abuse, or deceptive job or credential claims.
- Infringe intellectual-property, privacy, confidentiality, publicity, or other rights.
- Access another person's account or data without authorization, or attempt to obtain credentials or tokens.
- Attack, overload, probe, scan, disable, or interfere with the service, its infrastructure, or other users.
- Bypass payment, entitlement, rate-limit, authentication, safety, or access-control mechanisms.
- Use bots, crawlers, scrapers, or automation in a manner that exceeds reasonable use or places an unreasonable load on the service.
- Distribute malware, spam, phishing, prompt-injection attacks, or content designed to compromise another system.
- Upload or process information you do not have the right to use.
- Remove ownership notices, misrepresent affiliation, or use Luc branding in a way that confuses users.
- Use the service to make automated decisions in regulated domains without the human review, transparency, and legal authority required by law.
Reasonable automated access may be permitted where a documented interface or license allows it. We may set technical limits to protect service availability, users, providers, and costs.
7. AI features and disclaimer
AI features can produce inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated, unexpected, or unsuitable output. Generated text may misstate facts, invent details, omit context, or fail to preserve formatting. AI output is a drafting aid, not a verified record.
You must independently review all output before using it. Do not rely on AI output as the sole basis for a legal, financial, medical, safety, employment, immigration, academic, or other important decision. Luc does not guarantee interviews, employment, admission, promotion, revenue, savings, commercial results, or any other outcome.
AI features do not provide professional financial, legal, medical, tax, immigration, or other regulated professional advice, and no professional relationship is created. Luc Arcana does not provide scientific forecasts or substitute for qualified advice. A product may provide a more specific limitation, and that limitation also applies.
AI processing depends on third-party model providers and network availability. Output may differ between requests or models and may not be reproducible. You are responsible for the prompts and content you submit, the rights needed to use them, and the use you make of the result.
8. Paid plans, subscriptions, and refunds
The Luc Universe main site and the reviewed Luc Resume and Luc Arcana implementations do not currently enable payments. This section applies if you purchase a paid product or plan that expressly incorporates these Terms.
Before you pay, the checkout or plan page should disclose the product, material features, price, currency, billing frequency, taxes, renewal behavior, cancellation method, and any material restrictions. You agree to pay the disclosed amount through the presented payment method. A price is not final until the checkout confirmation shown before purchase.
- Recurring subscriptions may renew automatically for the disclosed period unless you cancel before the renewal deadline or the plan states otherwise.
- You can cancel using the controls identified in the product or payment interface, or by contacting support if a self-service control is unavailable.
- Unless a plan or applicable law provides otherwise, cancellation stops future renewal but does not automatically erase charges already due; access generally continues through the paid period.
- Refund rights are governed by the terms shown at purchase and by mandatory consumer law. Luc does not state that all purchases are non-refundable. We may consider duplicate charges, unauthorized transactions, material service failures, or other remedies required by law.
- Taxes are charged or collected where required. A third-party payment provider may handle payment, invoicing, currency conversion, taxes, and related account processing.
- We may suspend paid access for failed payment, chargeback abuse, fraud, or legal requirements, subject to notice and restoration rights that apply.
If you believe a charge is wrong or unauthorized, contact us promptly and cooperate with the payment provider's dispute process. Deliberately making a false chargeback or obtaining paid access through deceptive means may result in account restriction and recovery of amounts that can lawfully be recovered.
9. Availability, maintenance, and changes
We aim to operate the services reliably but do not promise uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or universally compatible availability. Maintenance, provider outages, network failures, browser changes, security threats, and events outside reasonable control may interrupt or degrade the service.
We may perform maintenance, deploy security fixes, migrate infrastructure, adjust usage limits, deprecate features, or change how a feature works. We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to address security, fraud, abuse, legal requirements, payment failure, or material violations of these Terms. We will aim to use proportionate measures and provide notice or restoration steps where appropriate.
Browser-local data is not a durable backup service. You must keep your own copies of important resumes, exports, and other content. We are not responsible for data loss caused by clearing browser storage, device failure, using another browser or device, or failing to maintain a backup.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and may use available controls to delete account data or browser-local content. Where a paid service is active, any cancellation and refund consequences are governed by the plan and applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, engage in fraud or abuse, fail to pay valid charges, or if continuing the service is no longer lawful or reasonably practicable. Where appropriate and legally required, we will notify you and provide a reasonable opportunity to export data, correct the issue, or challenge the decision.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, dispute terms, and record-retention rights, will survive to the extent permitted by law.
11. Third-party services and links
The service may link to, redirect to, or integrate with third-party websites and services, including WorkOS, Google, LinkedIn, Cloudflare, DeepSeek, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, Stripe, and open-source projects. Those services are controlled by their respective operators.
Luc does not control a third party's independent content, availability, security, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of a third-party service may be governed by separate terms. Luc is not responsible for an external service merely because it is linked or used to support a feature, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
You must not use Luc services in a way that violates a model provider's, identity provider's, payment provider's, or open-source license's applicable terms.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the services, including AI features, beta features, calculations, templates, reports, and third-party integrations, are provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability to the extent those warranties may lawfully be excluded.
We do not warrant that content or output is complete, accurate, current, suitable for a particular employer or jurisdiction, free from third-party rights, or compatible with every browser, device, recruiter, or screening system. Features described as experimental or in development may change or be withdrawn.
Nothing in this section excludes a warranty, guarantee, or consumer right that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. If mandatory law gives you a stronger warranty or remedy, that law prevails.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Luc will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, anticipated savings, business interruption, or loss or corruption of data arising from or related to the service, even if Luc was advised that such loss was possible.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Luc's aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you actually paid to Luc for the specific service giving rise to the claim during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) SGD 100. This allocation is proposed for legal review and applies only so far as a liability cap is enforceable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable law prohibits exclusion, or any non-waivable consumer right. If a liability limit is found unenforceable for a particular claim, the remaining provisions and limits continue to apply to the extent permitted.
You are responsible for maintaining independent copies of important content. Luc is not liable for losses caused primarily by your failure to back up browser-local data, protect credentials, verify AI output, or follow product warnings.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold Luc and its personnel harmless from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from: (a) content you submit or generated output you use in violation of law or third-party rights; (b) your fraud, wilful misconduct, or material violation of these Terms; (c) your attempt to circumvent security, payment, access, or usage controls; or (d) your unauthorized use of another person's account, data, credentials, or intellectual property.
We will give you reasonable notice of a covered claim and may participate in or control the defense where appropriate. You must not settle a claim in a way that admits fault by Luc or creates an obligation for Luc without written consent. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from Luc's own negligence, wilful misconduct, or violation of law, and is subject to any consumer-law limits.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any mandatory rule or non-waivable consumer jurisdiction, the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the service.
Nothing in this section deprives you of mandatory consumer protections or a right to bring a claim in a forum that applicable law gives you. Before starting formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue. That request is not intended to impose an unfair precondition on any non-waivable legal remedy.
The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply to these Terms.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the service, providers, payment rules, law, or operational practices. We will publish the updated Terms at this URL and change the last-updated date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where required and, where a paid plan requires it, identify any applicable remedy or right to terminate.
Changes apply prospectively unless applicable law or your agreement permits otherwise. If you do not accept an updated Term, you should stop using the affected service and use available cancellation or data-export controls. Your use after the effective date may constitute acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
17. General
If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure or delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of that right. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent, except where mandatory law permits; we may assign them in connection with a restructuring, transfer, or operation of the relevant service subject to applicable law.
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any applicable product-specific terms, order, or plan form the agreement concerning the service and replace prior statements on the same subject, except that misrepresentations and mandatory consumer rights are not excluded. English is the controlling language for interpretation unless a product-specific term expressly states otherwise and applicable law requires another result.
No person who is not a party to these Terms acquires a right to enforce them, to the extent that exclusion is permitted by applicable law.
18. Contact
The current public contact address for Luc is [email protected]. Please include the relevant product and a concise description in the subject or first paragraph. This address is the currently published site contact and must remain monitored and valid before the services are promoted as production-ready.
